More than 30,000 protestors marched in Quebec City today, but police again used teargas and fire hoses to keep them back from the security fence protecting FTAA negotiators from the will of the people. In Vermont, more than 800 people crossed into Canada via Derby Line to join the thousands already in the streets. Rallies were held at Derby Line and the Highgate crossing, where 200 demonstrators staged a People's Assembly. Huge rallies and actions took place across the US.
Seattle/Vancouver
Seattle-IMC reports that a group of over 5000 protesters gathered at the Peace Arch in Blaine, WA; Canadian and US Union members made up approximately half of the group. At around 2 pm, a group of 250-300 protesters broke from the main rally and marched to the border via the Peace Arch. Although protesters had not occupied the road, Border officials briefly stopped cars from crossing the border. Police were on site in considerable numbers, but without riot gear or tear gas. Listen to Jason describe protestors taking the border. Police arrested six activist who locked down on the highway leading to Canadian customs. The people were taken away on buses.
Brazil
There were 100 injuries in protests in Brazil, including nearly 30 activists hospitalized. The 62 activists arrested have been bailed out of jail, but they are in need of financial support for their legal costs. Four indymedia people were injured, and two Canadians from cmaq were also beaten.
Tijuana/San Diego
1,000 people marched on the Tijuana/San Diego border today, but were turned back by police when they attempted to cross over to Mexico.
Colorado
An anti-FTAA and fair trade rally and march was held in Boulder, Colorado in solidarity with the FTAA demonstrations taking place everywhere. An estimated 150 people participated in the festivities. [read more]

Vermont showed its solidarity with those in Quebec city today with demonstrations at Derby Line, the Highgate crossing, and in Burlington. Hundreds of people from of all walks of life attended each gathering.
Boston
Approximately 300 protestors assembled outside Massachusetts Hall on Harvard Yard at Harvard University in Cambridge, MA, USA, Saturday, 4/21, at 1 p.m., to do double duty demonstrating solidarity with the FTAA protestors mucking it up in Quebec City, and supporting over 40 Harvard Students who have occupied campus administrators' offices since Wednesday, 4/18 to demand a living wage of $10.25/hour for all workers at Harvard University--including hundreds of subcontracted and outsourced workers. California About 500 people (at its peak) marched through the Mission neigborhood in San Francisco chanting "Human Need, Not Corporate Greed" and "Amnesty for All, Tear Down the Borders, Wall by Wall." [read more]
Oregon
Also, about 1000 people marched in Portland today at Senator Wyden's office. Radical cheerleaders and other demonstrators took up four square blocks.
Chicago Hundreds gathered on Saturday near the Hendrickson Spring plant in Chicago to protest the Free Trade Area of the Americas. The Hendrickson Spring plant is closing, and by next year a majority of the company will have moved to Mexico. [read more]
Buffalo Several hundred people beoke away from a permited rally and sat down at the Peace Bridge between Buffalo, NY and Fort Eria, Canada. The US side of the border was shut down for several hours. [read more]
