Homicide by Police Leads to Struggle by Activists

Author: Cincinnati IMC

Topic: General News

Despite his untimely death at the age of nineteen, Timothy Thomas, who was shot to death last month by Cincinnati police officer Steve Roach, continues to inspire social justice activists in his hometown and around the country to struggle to ensure his killer is brought to justice, and that no one else suffers his fate. After Roach was indicted on only two misdemeanor charges, new protests broke out because of the 'slap on the wrist' many felt Roach had received. More actions are planned for the first weeked of June, and an anti-authoritarian bloc has also been called for by those who believe that calls for 'peace' and 'calm' equate calls for 'silence' about the relationship between neo-liberalism abroad and racist oppression here in the US. The Ohio Valley Independent Media Center will continue to provide coverage of these events as they unfold.
