Author: Local Desk

New York's state Superfund is bankrupt, leaving nearly 900 toxic waste sites stranded, including 6 in Tompkins County. NYPIRG is lobbying the state legislature, hoping to get legislation that will refinance the superfund by getting polluters to pay, not taxpayers.

NYPIRG is hiring activists, with a particular interest in students and recent graduates to do door-to-door fundraising. This summer job is a unique opportunity to earn between $4500 and $7000 while doing something that makes a difference. NYPIRG has an regional office in Ithaca as well as eight other cities across the state. Call 1-800-456-6069 for more information, or visit http://www.nypirg.org/
