ASGP Delegates to Vote on Filing for FEC Status

Author: Green Party of the United States

Topic: General News

In its annual meeting in Santa Barbara on July 27 and 28, the Association of State Green Parties (ASGP) will vote on whether to form the national Green Party of the United States and file with the Federal Election Commission as the National Committee of the Green Party. Under FEC rules, the national committee is the organization which oversees the day-to-day affairs of the Green Party at the national level.

ASGP policy requires that the contents of the filing be made public for 30 days prior to sending it to the FEC so that all Greens can examine it to ensure accuracy. That is the purpose of these web pages, as well as to give representatives the opportunity to know what they will be voting on in Santa Barbara. Most of the contents of the filing are on the ASGP web page, but a few are not in a computer file and are only listed there. The ASGP will copy and mail these documents to you on request for the cost of copying and postage.

If the ASGP Coordinating Committee approves this filing, we hope to send it to the FEC in early August and receive a response as early as October.
