Tim Joseph, an incumbent board member, is running unopposed for county board in District 12, the Town of Ithaca. Tim is running on the Green, Working Families and Democratic lines.
Tim's statement:
I've been a leader on the County Board on securing livable wages for Human Service Agencies. We've stopped, at least for now, expansion of the County jail by developing crime prevention programs and alternatives to incarceration.
The big issue at the County Board this year will be how to manage the budget shortfall without crippling county services. As Chair of the Budget Committee I have been focused on creating a process that puts clear choices in front of the Board and avoids blind cuts through things like across the board reductions. It's too early yet to take positions on particular cuts yet because we have not yet seen the options and consequences.
