The situation in the Middle East is becoming increasingly precarious, and inappropriate military actions could humiliate and isolate the United States while killing innocents. Activists are gathering in Washington, DC this weekend, from Sept 27 to Sept 30 to put a break on the U.S. war machine. Originally, activists had planned to protest the policies of the World Bank and IMF, but the focus of the convergence changed after the World Bank and IMF postponed their annual meetings.
The Anti-Capitalist Convergence and International Action Center are organizing major marches this weekend. Organizations such as the DC Statehood Green Party, the National Mobilization on Colombia, and Food Not Bombs are sponsoring events. Visit the Washington, DC Independent Media Center for ongoing coverage. A group of people from Ithaca will be going to DC. Call (607) 255-7293 or write to cuslar@cornell.edu if you're interested in participating.
