In the year 2002, over 534 Greens are on the ballot in 41 states for 76 types of office. 38 Greens have already been elected this year. The Green Party is rapidly growing: only 281 Greens ran in 2001 and 283 ran in 2000. 60 Greens were elected in 2001 and 47 in 2000.
The first Green victories in the US were during the 1986 election year, where Frank Koehn was elected to a County Board of Supervisors in Wisconsin and John Hartwell was elected for County Comissioner in North Carolina.
